Manildra Group is a
privately owned Australian business that started in 1952 with the purchase of
one flour mill. The company today is highly diversified and processes over 1
million tons of wheat per annum.
In the past, the flour mill at Manildra has
used threaded piping systems in both galvanised and stainless steel, as well
having tried plastic piping for compressed air lines. While these systems were
attractive in the past, each has some short comings once in service. Plastics
tend to develop air leaks over time, whilst steel pipe threaded fittings do not
provide a perfect seal creating ongoing air leaks. Furthermore, threaded
fittings tend to leave residual oil and small burrs in the piping system (from
the threading process), which leads to contamination of expensive equipment.
Enter No Weld Press Fit Piping System. Manildra Flour Mill decided
to install the Press Fit piping system in Stainless Steel 316 for the canola
oil dosing lines and Galvanised Steel Press Fit Piping for compressed air lines operating at 800
kPa. Manildra have experienced no air leaks at all when using the Press Fit
system, unlike other piping systems. This reduction in air leaks means
expensive compressors now run less, saving on electricity and maintenance costs.
Furthermore, the air system is now more efficient, as without leaks the correct
air capacity is being distributed thus ensuring the operational equipment runs
efficiently.
One major benefit of
the no weld Press Fit Piping system is that it is very easy and simple to
install. Manildra has gained savings in both time and capital costs when
compared to the piping systems used in the past. The total system was installed
by Manildra’s internal maintenance staff; hence any future modifications or
upgrades can be easily completed without waiting for contractors. Also, the oil
and metal filings that were experienced with threaded fittings has been eliminated,
hence protecting sensitive and expensive control equipment from the initial or
ongoing contamination.
Manildra
has experienced such pleasing results with press fit on their canola oil dosing
lines and the compressed air lines that they continue to consider Press Fit Piping for other
appropriate applications within the mill and at other sites within the group.
The benefits of the No Weld Press
Fit system are numerous. If you have a need to install a piping system, then
please consider the SS Press Fit Piping system as an alternative. You may just
be surprised at the benefits you can gain.
The savings of SS Press Fit
piping are significant against SS welded systems. Even for galvanised
steel systems, the total cost of SS Press Fit is on par with gal steel piping
system. So why not contact MEI today to share with you the benefits of the No
Weld SS316 Press Fit Piping System.
